Migrate WordPress to New Kinsta Install

  • Create WordPress site in Kinsta
  • Install UpDraftPlus on both New site and Existing site
  • Create a backup with all files and database in Existing site
  • Download all files in the backup:
  • On New site, upload all backup files in “Backup / Restore” tab. (“Migrate” tool can be used for premium fee, but not needed).
  • Select all folders to be uploaded.
  • Note: all Users and other files will be overwritten in New site. Login credentials will be those from Existing site.
  • Install and run Wordfence right away on New site to scan for malicious files from Existing site.
  • Look for any API calls, Stripe, or other connections that may interfere with Existing site while New site is being built.
